35 Buddhas, and now Vajrasattva

On Saturday the 6th July Geshe Pema Tsering taught the commentary on the purification practice of the 35 Buddhas.

Geshela explained and emphasized the importance of first generating the Four Opponent Powers in our mind streams as an integral part of every purification practice. These are the powers of Regret, Reliance or Refuge, Restraint and Remedial Action. The practice of the 35 Buddhas is recited in the context of the 4th power of Remedial Action.

Prostrating and reciting the names of the Buddhas actively applies a powerful antidote to our actions.

Many thanks to Diana Houston for leading the group in the practice which followed a delicious vegetarian lunch.

The 35 Buddhas Purification Practice has been added to the program and will be every Wednesday at 5.30pm (it only takes about a half an hour to do and involves prostrations and recitation).

We are now extremely fortunate that Geshe Pema Tsering has agreed to teach a commentary on the ‘Vajrasattva purification practice and 4 opponent powers’ starting Tues August 4th with a permission to practice ceremony on Friday 4th September.
