Email from Ven Robina - Prisoner Postcard Program

Friday, 21 December 2007 05:01

Last week I got the following email from Ven. Robina:

{xtypo_quote}Dear All,
Dearest Adelaide Retreaters. Greetings to all of you from San Francisco. I got back a week ago: after Adelaide I spent a week in Malaysia and two weeks at Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu.

I completely forgot while I was with you to ask you if you would like to participate with me in sending post cards to prisoners. I usually send about 400 to our current students.

You cannot imagine how they love to receive post cards from the different countries! Many of the US prisoners haven't even been outside their own city!
It works like this:

1. You buy some post cards, let's say 5 2. Jamyang will give you 5 names and addresses 3. You write a little note on them 4. You sign your name, plus mine (simply "Robina") 5. You buy the stamps and mail the cards.
If you cannot afford to buy the post cards and stamps, tell Jamyang, and I will pay for them.

Also, if any of you feel you would like to join our worldwide team of 150+ people who write to prisoners in the US, guiding them in their studies and practice, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Let her know your Dharma history so she can decide how best to place you.

Much love and a thousand prayers of thanks, Robina   {/xtypo_quote}

If you would like to help Ven. Robina, please send me an email on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and I'll send you the names and addresses and stamps/cards if needed.

Did you know that we have the DVD from Ven. Robina's Monday public talk available in Buddha House bookshop for $25 ($20 until the end of December)? And that Buddha House will donate $6 of each DVD to the Liberation Prison Project? This could be that Christmas present that you hadn't found yet.

Love, Jamyang
