Jamyang's Farewell

Even though it was extremely sad to say farewell to our wonderful teacher Ven. Jamyang, it feels like we were able to do so in a most befitting way. On Saturday 3 September a party and silent auction were organised.

The party was well attended and the mood was up-beat. So even though I kept a box of tissues nearby all evening they were hardly used. The silent auction was a huge success with most of the items that were donated being sold. There were some wonderfully generous donations and pledges made too and on the evening the silent auction raised over $3,000 - which is fantastic!

This will go a considerable way towards helping Jamyang paying her living costs during her studies, so that she will not have to work whilst in Italy. She can now just concentrate on her studies, as all Buddhist nuns should.

Lindsay made a lovely speech acknowledging all the hard work that Jamyang contributed to Buddha House over the years. Most of it unseen, but certainly the benefits of her contributions were felt by everyone and will continue to be so for a long time to come. J

amyang too made a speech and reminded us of the importance of continuing to use our own inner wisdom. Also to continue to support Lama Zopa Rinpoche and our director, (who represents Lama Zopa) and participate in all that happens at Buddha House.

We hope that one day Jamyang will return to us in one way or another and we certainly wish her the very best on her journey.
