Kangaroo Island Fire Update - De-Tong Ling Retreat Centre OK for Now.

Dear friends of De-Tong Ling Retreat Centre

it's taken until this moment to realise that the resource of this email list exists and that we can let everyone know what the situation is here. It's taken this long because there's been a few distractions!

As of 2pm today the fire has burnt out virtually the entire Flinders Chase National Park. It has not crossed the Playford Highway to the north, despite recent news reports. Currently the Retreat centre remains untouched, and given that the fire has burnt away from us to the south, we shouldn't be under threat when the winds again come from the south. The fire to the east of us around Western river Cove hasn't moved at all in the last three days, and the "blacked out" perimeters are being expanded.

The remaining threat that I can see is if the fire jumps the Playford Highway somewhere near Cape Borda and then makes its way back from the west towards us. But the containment line of the Playford Highway has held so far, apart from a few spot fires which have been extinguished.

So please continue to send your well wishes towards us.

All at the retreat centre are alive and well.
