Love-Fest Brings Hope at the Community Meeting

Tuesday, 11 August 2009 00:11

Lindsay on the whiteboard, Sidone chairing. The community meeting held on August 9th attracted strong support from students members and friends. The meeting recognised that we need to work together to cover our 2009/10 predicted loss of $50 - 60,000.

Ideas flowed, stories were told and hopes were expressed. But best of all, people committed themselves to pledge funds, take part in fundraising, tell people about the programs, support the day to day life of the centre and plan for the future of Buddha House.  Being at the community meeting was satisfying and empowering. It brought a call to further build the community of Buddha House by working together, practicing together and supporting each other.

The full meeting report (which will follow soon) will indicate many opportunities for people to contribute to the life and the community of Buddha House.  If you couldn't be at the meeting and you'd like to help, contact Buddha House to offer your assistance.  No matter what your skills are, there is something you can do!

If 50 people pledge $20 a week, we can guarantee to keep Buddha House open and growing.   You can use the donation facility on this webpage, or you can email or phone Buddha House to make a donation or pledge.  And, if you aren't able to offer money, then offer your skills. If you can't offer your skills, come and join a meditation group or attend teachings.  All of these work to ensure that Buddha House continues to relieve the suffering of sentient beings.
