Venerable Robina Courtin in Adelaide - Sept 2-10

Monday, 29 August 2011 09:53

Venerable Robina Courtin

Venerable Robina Courtin was ordained as a Tibetan Buddhist nun in 1977. She was the editorial director of Wisdom Publications until 1987 and then editor of the international Buddhist magazine Mandala until the end of 2000.

These days based in San Francisco, she is the executive director of the Liberation Prison Project and works with people in prisons all over the world.

Born in Australia, an award-winning film, Chasing Buddha, documents her life and includes her work at Kentucky State Prison. She is one of the subjects of an ABC Television Australian Story, ABC's Compass: Key to Freedom, Vicki Mackenzie's Why Buddhism? and a film by Christine Lundberg, On the Road Home.

"she'd barely draw breath for two hours in talks of great humour, wit and insight. Sex, death, drugs - everything from faith to flatulence"

"a whirling dervish, pocket rocket of enthusiasm and wisdom"
