Buddhism in Daily Life

jamyang.jpgTuesday Afternoons: 1.30pm to 3pm June 16, 23, 30, July 7

With Ven. Jamyang

Two pillars in the philosophy of Buddhism are finding a happy, peaceful mind and not harming others. We come to classes and study how to change our view and attitude so that we become a wiser and kinder person. And then we go home and meet with situations that were not described in the philosophy: kids who won't stop screaming until they get what they want; a partner who behaves in a way that we do not know how to respond to kindly or wisely; or we lose our job or our home because of the financial crisis.

These situations often lead us to react from emotion rather than with common sense. We lose clarity of mind and we can't think properly anymore. These are the perfect conditions for inner growth, rather than continuing to react from our deep habitual patterns that we so badly want to change.

In each class of Buddhism in Daily Life we'll begin with a meditation, followed by a session where we work with the practical problems of our life to which we will try to apply Buddhist thought.

In this course it is important to bring your problems with you!

These classes are suitable for all and can be joined at any time.
There will be no classes in July. Next classes will be in August.
Facility Fee: $10 waged, $8 concession, $7 member.
