Our lives are often an expression of extreme living but the essence of the middle way approach is to avoid extremes of all kinds. Discussion is essential to these talks so be prepared to listen and offer your ideas. ‘Making Relationships Work’ - Monday 24th January Our lives in many respects, are defined by our relationships, yet our relationships are deeply affected by our attachments, which make us both fearful and clinging, mental states that affect our well- being. We need to gain a working perspective on how to balance our emotions in relationships. This talk will look at the nature of relationships with strategies for managing them effectively. ‘Bringing Up Kids’ - Monday 31st January. Bringing up kids is complex. We all experience the struggle between our head and our emotions from the past. Our success or lack of success at balancing our head and heart is readily understood by our children. This talk will examine ways of interacting with children, and the importance of love, honesty, and inner discipline. For younger people (but equally relevant to parents and others) - Monday 7th February. Life is precious and full of potential. How do we prepare to make the most of our lives? This talk will investigate issues faced by the young, and how we manage these issues as we get older. In brief we need to examine the priorities we set, in order tap our inner potential.
