'The Three Principal Aspects of the Path to Enlightenment'

The three principle aspects contain the essential meaning of all Buddha's teachings, both sutras and tantras. The terms that are often used to characterize these three in Tibetan Buddhism are Renunciation, Bodhicitta, and Wisdom Realizing Emptiness. The wish for freedom from what binds us in the cycle of suffering, the altruistic intention to be of ultimate benefit to others, and the wisdom to understand the ultimate nature of reality constitute the three principle aspects of the path to enlightenment.
