Pastoral Care at Buddha House

We have an active group of students of Buddha House who offer their time freely to support the pastoral care of those in need. This group has evolved from the Tibetan Buddhist Spiritual Support for the Dying, which was initiated by Heather Conté several years ago. Initially the group was focused on giving spiritual support to those who are dying, their family and friends.

As the group saw a need (from Buddha House students) for spiritual care amongst those who suffer from physical or psychological problems, it has extended its services.

Our main aim is to help those in need look at their situation from a spiritual perspective and to give advice on how to use the problems for their spiritual practice. Support can be as simple as a chat on the phone, a personal visit, or maybe more expansive, depending on the need. We can give you information on Dharma resources, which practices might be helpful in your situation to purify the negative karma and collect extensive merit, etc.

Once a month the members of the group receive training from Ven. Jamyang, our Western teacher, to update their knowledge and expertise, following the guidelines from our spiritual director Lama Zopa Rinpoche. If you would like to offer your time for service and become part of this group, or if you would like to apply for pastoral care, please contact Ven. Jamyang or Jan Vaughan through Buddha House office.

Jan Vaughan, Coordinator Pastoral Care BH.

Ribur Rinpoche You cannot imagine how much merit you can create by working for the Centres of Lama Zopa Rinpoche for even one day, because Rinpoche's Bodhicitta is so huge.
