Barossa Buddha House & Drati Monks Peace Tour 2008 Print E-mail

BBH is busy preparing for the second tour of the Drati Khangtsen monks of Sera Je Monastery. The South Australian leg of their 'Peace Tour 2008' kickstarts in the Barossa Valley in the first week of April. They will begin with a full day school workshop at Angaston Primary, followed by a welcome dinner and group meditation with members of BBH the same evening.

In conjunction with the Drati monks and Atisha, BBH will host their first ever retreat in Eden Valley. This is true blue bush retreat, where you can cook damper on the campfire as you chant mantras with the monks. The retreat will take place on a secluded 126 acre property of ancient gum trees and mossy outcrops. All are welcome to join the monks in this unique healing experience, utilising Buddhist practices such as Medicine Buddha, Tara and Vajrassattva purification. Places are already filling fast, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

When: Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April
Cost: $150, $125 conc. (all meals provided)

The magnificent Angaston Town Hall will again be home to the Drati monks' Sand Mandala. This year they will be constructing the mandala of Medicine Buddha with colourful marble dust. Watch the mandala unfold from Thursday 10th - Sunday 13th April, concluding with the dissolution ceremony. The swept up sands will then be carried to Angaston Creek where they will be offered to the region for timely rains, prosperity and good health. During this event the monks will also offer free daily morning meditations. If you would like to be involved in this event please call Debra 85621656.

Finally, the Drati monks are also offering a Tibetan cooking workshop. Learn the art of momo (tibetan dumpling) making and tibetan noodle soup, then join the monks as together you feast on the fruits of your labour!

When: Tuesday 15th April, 6pm
Where: Murdock wines cellar door, Light Pass rd., Light Pass
Cost: $30

Bookings essential by 11th April, ph 85621656
All of these events will raise funds for 400 Drati monks of Sera Je Monastery, and for Buddhist retreat facilities in Bendigo.
