It was such a blessing to have our kind and respected teacher visit us and explain Buddhism ... We have had a wonderful response from this teaching with some positive emails and a fantastic turnout for meditation. A big thankyou to Lyndy, Adam etc. for bringing Geshe-la to us, and to all those who attended.
Ven. Jamyang begins the "16 Guidelines to a Happy Life" on the 28th of June continuing on Sunday the 26th of July, August 30th and September 27th.
"Dear Buddha House student, member or friend,
...In considering our $50,000 end of year loss for the past year, and in considering our budgets for the coming years, it is clear that we cannot continue to operate as we have been. If we continue as we are going, Buddha House could be forced to close in 3 to 4 years.
... We need to consider how to best manage the difficult financial challenge that lies ahead of us. We have called a community meeting to provide you with the facts, present some options, listen to you and give you the opportunity to become part of the solution.

Doing a retreat is one of those things that most of us put in the too hard basket. Lack of time, having too many other commitments, the cost, not knowing where to go, are all factors as to why we put it off. I think a lot of students would like to know more about retreats and possibly feel it is something they are not ready for.
Do you have a shed that can store some of Buddha House's goods and chattels until we have a new home? We need to find a place to move some equipment by late April and we also need the assistance of someone with a small truck or a trailer to do the shift from Blackwood, where Luke Mosley has been our stores master for some years. We even have the offer of a shed, if you have the space for it in your backyard. Please contact Buddha House office if you can help with storage or the shift, which needs to take place before April 4th.
Already it has been an eventful year for BBH. After taking a good long break over the holiday period our small group has launched itself back into activites under the direction of Sue Devine. We are now alternating Meditation nights with a new study group. The study group is led by Deb Wilson and held at her house where we also share dinner. It has been a great success. We are currently taking an in depth look at the precepts and how they apply in a very real sense to our lives.
Hi Buddha House Peoples! I was asked to send a bit of an update on life as it is for me now. Of course like everything, it is in constant motion, and as we all know our reality is created by our own minds. So, what does my life look like? On the external front, I became a nun approx 2 years ago in the holy place of Bodhgaya and since then have been living in a few different FPMT centres. Namely Tushita Dharamsala, Dorje Chang Institute (in Auckland) and now I have the unbelievable privilege of residing and working at the holy Guru Lama Zopa Rinpoche's house in Aptos, California, where I have been since July last year.
Nadyne Morgan left Melbourne to make Adelaide her home in fairly recent times and has been a student at Buddha House for the past 2 years. Inspired by Ven Robina Courtin who stayed at Nadyne's home during her January Buddha House teachings, Nadine decided that she would like to make a more active contribution to the life of Buddha House and offered herself as a candidate for the Office Manager position. As well as her many administrative skills, Nadyne has a history of training volunteers and brings excellent computer and people skills. On the personal side, Nadyne has strong artistic interests and sings in an a'capella choir. We are delighted to welcome you Nadyne and would also like to thank the other students who offered themselves for the position. Thank you to each of you for your willingness to serve Buddha House.

Lyndy Abram's home turned into a pizza parlour extraordinaire on Saturday 5th April when Jampa Gendun's students and Buddha House friends gathered to wish him a fond farewell before he leaves us to take up life in Sydney. Well fed with delicious pizzas well prepared by chef and cook Nick Vanzo and Maxine the occasion was a fun filled gathering of new and old students, with a delightful mix of young and old sharing each other's company.
