Dearest Adelaide Retreaters. Greetings to all of you from San Francisco. I got back a week ago: after Adelaide I spent a week in Malaysia and two weeks at Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu. I completely forgot while I was with you to ask you if you would like to participate with me in sending post cards to prisoners. I usually send about 400 to our current students...
As of 2pm today [Friday] the fire has burnt out virtually the entire Flinders Chase National Park. It has not crossed the Playford Highway to the north, despite recent news reports. Currently the Retreat centre remains untouched, and given that the fire has burnt away from us to the south, we shouldn't be under threat when the winds again come from the south. The fire to the east of us around Western river Cove hasn't moved at all in the last three days, and the "blacked out" perimeters are being expanded.

Nestling in the jade green Himalayan Mountains, amidst the juniper trees, mountain peaks and floating clouds is the most beautiful hermitage of Lawudo. Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s previous incarnation, Lawudo Lama Kunzang Yeshe, also known as “the Lawudo Lama”, meditated in the blessed mountain cave at Lawudo, which is a central feature of this Tibetan Buddhist mountain meditation retreat center. Their new website is full of interesting features and information on Lawudo, the gompa and details on doing retreat there. http://www.lawudo.com/
