November 23, December 14: Sundays at 10.30am with Ven. Jamyang and Lindsay Holmes. The best way to please our teacher and the main cause for success in a Dharma centre is working and living in harmony. This is easier said then done, especially when problems arise. Being a Buddhist or having affinity with Buddhism doesn’t free us from our self-cherishing mind, the cause of all problems. The tendency to blame others doesn’t disappear from our mind stream straight away when we practise Buddhism. We all carry this deep ingrained habit with us. Recognising this and learning how to work with it can help to let go of unrealistic expectations and give us the tools to work and live in harmony. How do we communicate skilfully when problems arise? How do we work with our self-cherishing mind that likes to blame others for our discomfort? How can we use problems for our own spiritual growth? How do we take responsibility and find creative solutions? How can we make a difference in our community? The techniques offered in these workshops can be applied in all places in our society, from our family to our workplace or the market. On November 23 the workshop is followed by a shared lunch and the AGM at 2 pm. Please bring a plate of vegetarian food to share for lunch. Free of charge. These workshops are open for all, and strongly recommended for those involved in Buddha House. |
